  • Do I have to audition?
Membership to either the Musical Theatre, Players or Singers sections is by audition only. We appreciate many people find the audition process nerve-wracking but we have all been there in your position before and aren't trying to catch you out, we love to welcome new members! If you'd prefer, InSpire Daytime Voices is a community choir with no audition process. Find out more about Daytime Voices here.
  • Where do you rehearse?
Our rehearsals are held at The Spire, Poole High Street, BH15 1DF Some rehearsals may be held at alternative venues, and details of the venue will be confirmed by the production team in advance. Members often lift share to these alternative venues.
  • How much is it to join?
Musical Theatre subs are £15 per month or £7.50 for students. Singers subs are £15 per month or £7.50 for students Players pay £6 per year, plus a £20 performance fee per production they are involved in. Daytime Voices pay a £6 annual membership fee, and £5 per week (Pay as you go) Subscription to joining all three main sections or a combination of the three is £15 per month (£7.50 per month for students) – although auditions must be completed for each section. Subs are payable from your first rehearsal date and can be paid by standing order either monthly, 6 monthly or annually. Money should not be a barrier for anyone wishing to join The Society. In cases of genuine financial hardship, a reduction in subscriptions may be possible. To discuss this confidentially, please contact Chairman Clare Albanozzo on chairman@pandp.org.uk or the Membership Secretary on membership@pandp.org.uk.
  • How old do I need to be to join P&P?
The normal minimum age for joining an auditioned section of P&P Productions is 18. However, applications from those aged 16-18 will be considered on an individual basis. There's no upper limit! Depending on the production, a children's chorus/cast may be needed and information about these opportunities will be found on our website/social media pages. To register interest for either yourself or a child, please email membership@pandp.org.uk
  • When are rehearsals held?
Musical Theatre Society rehearsals are held on Tuesday evenings, with some Thursday and Sunday rehearsals required. MTS usually perform two shows a year, one in May with a rehearsal period starting in January, and one in November with rehearsals starting in July. The number of rehearsals you are called for depends on your involvement in shows and will vary from production to production. Singers rehearsals are held predominantly on Thursday Evenings at The Spire. Rehearsal periods begin in January for our Summer concerts and July for our Winter concerts. Players rehearsals are usually held on Wednesday evenings but vary according to cast availability. Rehearsals generally start at 7.30pm and run until 10pm. There is usually a 15 minute tea break at about 8.45pm where teas and coffees are available for a small charge of 50p.
  • What if I can't make a rehearsal?
We ask all of our members to attend a minimum of 75% of rehearsals and to contact the Director/Production Team if they are unable to attend as soon as possible. This ensures we keep our high performance standards and we are able to plan our rehearsal schedule.
  • Do you hold any social activities?
We do! P&P hosts a Ball every year, with our very own awards ceremony 'The Daves' (a bit like the Tonys!). This is a great chance for everyone to dress up, let our hair down and celebrate our achievements. At the end of rehearsals members unwind in the local pub. P&P is a great place for meeting friends and a drink at the end of the evening gives everyone a chance to socialise. There are often informal gatherings such as after show parties, meals, cake sales and theatre trips to support other local societies arranged throughout the year.
  • I'm not a performer, are there other ways to get involved?"
There are many ways to be a part of P&P. We are always excited to hear from those who can help with the many roles behind the scenes which are vital to staging all of our productions. From roles on our Committee, Front of House, Wardrobe including dressers, costume design/alterations, Set Building and Design, sourcing props, backstage helpers, chaperones etc. If you would like to support our productions then consider becoming a Patron.
  • How do I become a patron?
