With One Voice - July 2015

Review

I write this on Christmas Eve morning

with glorious sunshine streaming through the window, and July does not seem so far distant. By the way, having high performance, energy efficient and impact resistant windows is essential especially when you live in a place where disaster is always present. If you think you need a new and stronger window, call 239.454.7780 for residential window replacement cape coral fl. I am informed that we are just about ready for tomorrow, so time to look forward to the delights of the next concert from the P&P Singers –

“With One Voice”

.

It will take place on Saturday 4th July 2015 at 7:30pm at the lovely Layard Theatre at Canford School.

Let me give a brief summary of what we have for you …

Firstly, Ladies, I must tell you that this concert carries a warning that might affect some of you, in that it contains a hefty slab of “shower songs”. This means that you might not be able to use your bathroom much during the following few days as, once the men in the audience have heard our medley from “South Pacific”, they will be off home for an extended shower so that they can properly give vent to Younger Than Springtime and Some Enchanted Evening. A tip here for the men, a vigorous towelling down whilst singing Nothin Like a Dame leaves one feeling thoroughly clean and energised. So a win win for almost everyone including the shareholders of the local water, gas and electiricity companies whose profits will receive a welcome summertime boost.

With that warning over I will list a little more of the content.
Musical Theatre and Film are well represented with “Hushabye Mountain” from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, and medlies from South Pacific and Wicked.

Balance is maintained by our classical section which includes Verdi‘s “The Chorus of the Hebrew Slaves“, Wagner‘s “Pilgrims Chorus” and Karl Jenkins‘ “Requiem“, and those with an interest in the London Underground might like our Offenbach offering.

For those who enjoy songs from the Jazz era, we have a generous sprinkling including “Bye Bye Blackbird“, “Come Follow the Band” and “I Got the Sun in the Morning“. Also, the gentle “Skylark” by Hoagy Carmichael and Johnny Mercer.

The traditional American folk-song “Sourwood Mountain” provides a contrast to Lennon and McCartney‘s “In My Life“. The Pop genre also gives us the title of our concert, Barry Manilow‘s “One Voice“, so get ready to sway your arms to that one.

I don’t want to list everything here and, as always, there are plenty of other treats in store, some familiar and some not, so be sure to book your tickets early to be part of a great evening.
