The Merry Widow


Saturday 19th May at 7:30pm at Lighthouse, Poole

The multi-award winning Poole & Parkstone Productions combine forces with the Orchestra of the Bournemouth Philharmonic Society for a concert version of Lehar’s wonderful operetta, The Merry Widow.

Set in Paris in 1900, this much-loved musical tells the story of the efforts of many men, to win the heart of Anna, the widow of a rich Pontevedrian Banker. With so many well-loved classics such as Vilia, and The Merry Widow Waltz, the show has enchanted audiences around the world for many years.

The Bournemouth Philharmonic Society was founded by Sam Newgarth in 1976 and has since gone from strength to strength having raised thousands of pounds for charities and good causes. Sam was rewarded in the 1997 New Year Honours by being made M.B.E. for services to music and to charity.

P&P Productions have been performing in and around Poole for over 90 years. Recently the winners of the NODA Best Musical Award for their production of Jesus Christ Superstar, performed at Lighthouse last year, P&P are delighted to join with the BPO for what promises to be a wonderful evening with over 100 performers taking part.
