P&P Productions receive NODA award for Sweeney Todd

Following their highly acclaimed and award winning production of Jesus Christ Superstar in 2011, Poole and Parkstone Productions accept another award for ‘Outstanding Achievement’, from the National Operatic & Dramatic Association for their production of Sweeney Todd at the Lighthouse Theatre in May of last year.

Nick Lawrence presented the award on behalf of NODA during a break in rehearsals for P&P’s forthcoming production of Calamity Jane, .

To accept the award on behalf of Company Chairman Clare Albanozzo, who played Mrs Lovett in the show, was Julian Smith, who played the title role of Sweeney Todd.
Also present were cast members India McKenzie (Lucy) and Sarah Bayliss (Johanna), who are currently preparing for their roles as Calamity and Katie; Costume Co-ordinator Christopher Criddle, representing the P&P Production Team; and Company Secretary Dawn Goodwin, representing all three branches of the society; Musicals, Players, and their award-winning Singers.

Celebrating their ninety-fifth year, P&P Productions has gone from strength to strength in becoming one of the most respected amateur theatre companies in the South of England. Accepting the award on behalf of the Chairman, Julian Smith thanked NODA and added that it had been an exciting production to work on, praising the imaginative and creative input of Director Sylvia Denning and Musical Director Stuart Darling.

P&P’s latest production of Calamity Jane will be performed at Lighthouse, Poole’s Centre for the Arts, in May of this year.
