P & P Players has, since 2005, presented a variety of plays (as opposed to musicals) as a forum for members whose strength lies in acting rather than singing and dancing.

We usually stage two main productions each year, one in February, and the other in September. Our venues are the Barrington Theatre, Ferndown, and Bournemouth Little Theatre, Jameson Road, Winton, Bournemouth.

We have also presented “A Summer Cocktail” at Holy Angels, Lilliput, in July 2013 – a collection of scenes and sketches, with music provided by P&P Singers.
This production was such a success that we followed it up with “Another Summer Cocktail” in July 2014 which was also a resounding success.

Rehearsals are held on Wednesday evenings at Poole Day Centre, 12A Commercial Road, Poole, BH14 0JW from 7.30 pm to 9.30/10.00 pm. Additional rehearsals may be arranged as required.

Between productions, play reading evenings have become popular, providing opportunities for members to enjoy a range of genres in a relaxed and friendly environment, and to have a say in future production selection.

Of course, P&P Players requires more than just acting and voice projection skills from its members. Scenery design, construction and finishing are an essential part of any drama group, and the ability to wield a paint brush or a power screwdriver is greatly prized! These tasks are carried out by P&P members from all three sections, plus any non-members who are willing to lend a hand.

Every production needs costumes and props. Costumes often need to be altered by skilled hands and, in the case of props, to be sourced and made available when needed during a production. There are many non-performing roles like these that must be fulfilled behind the scenes to ensure that each production looks as professional as possible.
